Robe is pleased to announce that it will be supplying in excess of 500 lighting fixtures for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.
Robe is working with Lighting Designer Tim Routledge on this project, who was the Lead Lighting Programmer for the London 2012 Summer Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
The Robe fixtures shining bright in Glasgow will include Pointes, CycFX, LEDWash 600s, LEDBeam 100s and the recently released LEDBeam 1000 … together with Robe’s latest LiteWare battery up-lighters.
Robe is recognised as the market leader in entertainment lighting technology and this year celebrates 20 years at the forefront of successful innovation.
The Opening Ceremony takes place at Celtic Park Stadium on 23rd July 2014 and will feature a cast of 2000 performers as well as 4,500 athletes from 71 nations, with a live audience of over 40,000 and a potential global live TV audience of over one billion.
The Closing Ceremony takes place at Hampden Park Stadium on 3rd August.
The Ceremonies are being created by global brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide, and Glasgow 2014 will be Scotland’s biggest ever festival of sport and culture, with over a million spectators expected to attend over the course of the Games.
The Rock For People music festival celebrated its 30th anniversary in style with an impressive 5-day event, an all-star lineup and an expanded capacity of 50,000 which saw a fully sold-out audience flock to the Park 360 site in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic – a former military airfield dating back to the 1930s – approximately 100 kilometres east of Prague.
Vienna’s Marx Halle bristled with excitement for the 2025 Amadeus Austrian Music Awards, a BIG and super glamorous night out for the Austrian music industry, staged by IFPI Austria, to recognise outstanding achievements by Austrian artists and musicians.
Lighting designer Nathan Brittain from Houston, Texas-based lighting rental specialist LD Systems oversaw a major lighting upgrade for the live concert element of this year’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo – AKA Rodeo Houston – which included adding over 150 Robe moving lights to the rig.
Robe was thrilled to be an official technical partner of Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, where lighting designer Tim Routledge and his team, together with London UK-based lighting supplier Neg Earth Lights, helped deliver a truly outstanding production for the world’s largest live music broadcast event, staged this year at the St. Jakobshalle arena by Swiss host broadcaster SRG SSR, co-ordinated by the EBU (European Broadcasting Union).
